Darwin is a set of special parametric primitives designed to help artists
create new and unique life inside of 3ds max 4 quickly and efficiently.
With over 600MB of component mesh parts and real-life maps to work with,
you can create a new lifeform in just a few minutes much like the signature
'frog-raptor'image to the left, which took less than 20 minutes to build
and texture.
Within Darwin, you'll find a complete set of arms, legs, bodies, heads,
flippers, fins, beaks, teeth, hands, feet, hooves, tongues, horns, tails
and wings which can be adapted, combined and evolved to produce the full
range of vertebrate life.
What's more, all the flexible body parts contain pre-skinned skeletons (
MAX bones) for animation. Your creature will be ready to start walking -
or whatever you want it to do - almost from the moment you've finished
building it.
In addition, Darwin is completely extendable - all the models are standard
3ds max files, so if you need to include body parts you've designed for a
special creature, you can simply import them and attach them to it. The
controls which allow you to "evolve" the facial features of Darwin's
creatures are completely transparent so you can quickly and easily add
your own to take evolution in whatever direction you wish. When you create
your own body parts, just save them in the appropriate Darwin folders, and
they'll appear with all the other elements in the Max interface ready to
be used in future creations.
